Gibson 1977 Grabber

Product details
This is the best Grabber we've played. Exceptional neck, totally straight, perfectly operational truss rod, and no fret wear. This is a bit of an odd duck, but the most likely scenario is this: This is a 1977 Grabber, the pots are 1975, but since those were bought in bulk, there are always crossovers from pot code dates to actual manufacturing dates. The neck is a G3 neck, as can be seen on the back of the headstock by the serial number, however, the finish is absolutely uniform to the naked eye and under black light. The neck pocket and base of the neck are also identical in finish. We conclude, along with input from other vintage guitar folks, is that this bass was ordered with the G3 neck as to be able to have the blacked out headstock with rosewood fingerboard which were only featured on G3 basses. Could the neck be a factory replacement? Not likely, the finish and patina are totally uniform and identical and the neck pocket has no gaps and is tight. So we're rather sure it was custom ordered this way. Regardless of the scenario of its original production, it is the best Grabber we've played and all the parts, case, and finish are original.
