Product details
In 1993, Music Man introduced the "Sterling", a smaller, slightly more versatile version of the Sting Ray. Named after Sterling Ball, head of the company, this bass also had a 1 1/2" nut width and additional 3-way toggle. I caught wind on this back in 1993 and thought it was the perfect bass for me, so I called The Bass Centre on Ventura Blvd. in So. Cal. and talked the manager, Chris. He told me he had a couple Sterlings on order from the very first run, so plunked my money down and proceeded to wait. This is the actual bass I bought 30 years ago. A year or so later, I had our luthier at Bass Northwest swap out the stock pickup for a Bartolini MME humbucker that would work with the coil selector. I sold it a few years after that and another 20 years later, it ended up back in my hands by an amazing coincidence. Not really playing it though, so I'm throwing it out there for another caretaker. Includes original case and the removable mute system. The original pickup is not included.
